Transient
Also: transient response
Temporary behavior while a system moves between operating conditions.
Transients arise from stored energy, dynamics, switching, and initial conditions before steady behavior dominates.
Example Motor startup current and an RC charging curve are transients.
Common misconception A brief transient can still exceed ratings and cannot be ignored because steady state is safe.
