Trajectory

Also: motion trajectory

Link to term
In plain language

A time-indexed desired path including position and often velocity and acceleration.

Technical definition

A trajectory parameterizes motion so dynamic, actuator, collision, and timing constraints can be checked along the whole path.

Example A camera slide command specifies where it should be at every instant of a 1.75 s move.

Common misconception A geometric path alone does not specify speed or timing.
