Signal
Also: measured signal
A quantity that carries information by varying with time, space, or another variable.
A signal has units, domain, bandwidth, sampling, reference, and uncertainty; its representation is not the physical phenomenon itself.
Example Encoder counts over time signal wheel rotation.
Common misconception Noise and signal are defined relative to the information and task, not appearance alone.
