A named value that configures a design or model while variables change within it.
Parameters may be specified, measured, or estimated; identifiability and operating range determine whether fitted values are meaningful.
Example Link length is a CAD parameter; motor gain is an identified model parameter.
Common misconception A fitted parameter is not automatically a fundamental physical constant.
