Measurement loading
Also: instrument loading
A change in the system caused by connecting the measuring instrument.
Finite input impedance, burden voltage, capacitance, mass, or thermal contact alters the measurand and must be included in the model.
Example A low-impedance voltmeter can pull a weak sensor node downward.
Common misconception An instrument is not automatically a passive observer just because it reports a number.
