Leakage current
Also: electrical leakage
Small unintended current through a nominally insulating or off path.
Real capacitors, semiconductors, boards, and instruments have finite insulation resistance that changes held voltages over time.
- Units
- ampere (A)
Example Capacitor leakage can discharge a sample-and-hold node between measurements.
Common misconception Leakage is not always negligible merely because a switch is logically off.
