Latency budget
Also: timing budget
An allocation of allowable delay across stages of an end-to-end response.
Sensing, transport, queues, computation, scheduling, and actuation contributions combine, including jitter and worst credible cases.
- Units
- seconds (s)
Example A 150 ms stop requirement might allocate 50 ms sensing, 50 ms communication, and 50 ms actuation.
Common misconception Average stage delays do not prove the end-to-end deadline is always met.
