An ordered set of rigid links connected by joints.
Successive joint transforms map configurations to end-effector pose; open and closed chains have different constraint structure.
Example Base, shoulder link, elbow link, and camera form an open chain.
Common misconception Listing joints without their axes and transform order does not define a chain.
