MOSFET gate
Also: gate terminal
The control terminal whose voltage establishes a MOSFET's channel state.
The insulated gate draws little DC current but has capacitance and charge that require transient drive current during switching.
Example A gate resistor can limit ringing while a pull-down keeps a low-side MOSFET off at boot.
Common misconception Near-zero steady gate current does not mean switching the gate requires no energy or driver capability.
