Event
Also: discrete event
A noteworthy occurrence that may trigger program behavior.
Events may be edges, messages, timeouts, or state changes and should be queued or handled with explicit loss and ordering policy.
Example A debounced button press is an event; its held voltage level is an input condition.
Common misconception Polling does not prevent event-oriented design, and repeated levels are not necessarily new events.
