Diode
Also: rectifier
A two-terminal device that conducts much more readily in one direction.
Its nonlinear current-voltage relation and reverse limits require an operating-point model rather than a universal fixed voltage drop.
Example A series diode can block reverse battery current with a forward-voltage cost.
Common misconception Every diode does not drop exactly 0.7 V at every current and temperature.
