One signed amount of a vector along a chosen axis.
Components are projections onto basis directions and reconstruct the vector only when paired with that basis.
Example A 1 m vector at 30° has components about 0.866 m and 0.5 m.
Common misconception A component is not an independent physical vector detached from its axis convention.
