Electric charge
Also: charge quantity
A fundamental electrical quantity whose movement constitutes current.
Charge is conserved; current integrates to transferred charge and a capacitor stores q = Cv in the lumped model.
- Units
- coulomb (C = A·s)
- Formula
q = ∫I dt
Example One ampere for one second transfers one coulomb.
Common misconception Charge is not the same quantity as energy or voltage.
