Buffer capacity
Also: maximum capacity
The maximum number of items a bounded structure can hold under its representation.
Capacity differs from current length and must include payload, alignment, metadata, and reserved memory constraints.
Example 10,240 bytes divided by 8 bytes per packed sample holds 1,280 samples.
Common misconception Capacity is not throughput, battery capacity, or proof that overflow cannot occur.
