Battery capacity
Also: ampere-hour capacity, Ah
The quantity of charge a battery can deliver under specified test conditions.
Ampere-hours integrate current over time; usable capacity varies with cutoff, rate, temperature, age, and chemistry and does not alone state energy or peak current.
- Units
- ampere-hour (Ah)
- Formula
Q = ∫I dt
Example 2 Ah ideally represents 2 A for 1 h at the stated conditions.
Common misconception Capacity in Ah is not current capability in A and cannot be compared across voltages as energy.
